The Great Ant Debate

It is widely debated in the academic & greater community that it is or is not taboo to study foreign organisms not native to a certain ecosystem.

At FormiCanada, we believe that the studying of biodiversity should be promoted so long as it is done appropriately and responsibly.

Where the pet industry allows all types of other organisms (fish, birds, reptiles, invertebrates, plants & fungi) to be openly bought and sold in the industry, ants are generally subject to a great, heated debate.

In many countries around the world, including Canada, foreign & domestic insects are widely being used beneficially in applications to protect interests in agriculture and industry. For example, Ladybird beetles are widely used globally as a natural source to battle plant pests.

We are advocating to have conditions & merits set in place to allow and promote the safe and responsible hobby of exotic ant keeping on a global level.
